Cisco TelePresence Server Multistream Configuration

This document was written based on an environment with the following devices:

  • UCM 11.0.1 (Required from CE8.2.0)
  • TelePresence Conductor XC4.3
  • Virtual TelePresence Server 4.4(1.16)
  • MX800 Dual CE8.3

CUCM Configuration

Following best practices copy the existing Standard SIP Profile For TelePresence Conferencing and modify Timer Invite Expires (seconds) to be 30. Other requirements should already be satisfied when copying this profile, however specifically ensure:

  • SDP Transparency Profile = Pass all unknown SDP attributes
  • Allow iX Application Media = Checked
  • Allow multiple codecs in answer SDP = Checked

Configure regions such that call speed will be high enough to support multistream. Following the CE release note guidance:

  • For single screen endpoints 4Mbps
  • For dual screen endpoints 6Mbps

Confirm the SIP Profile used on endpoints has Allow iX Application Media checked. Using the SIP Profile Standard SIP Profile For TelePresence Endpoint will satisfy the requirements.

Conductor Configuration

On the relevant Conference Templates confirm:

  • Single-screen layout = ActivePresence
  • Multiscreen layout = ActivePresence
  • Enable iX protocol = True
  • Custom Parameters = {“callAttributes”:{“multistreamMode”:“multistreamOn”}}

Endpoint Configuration

On endpoints running CE8 ensure the following settings are configured:

  • Conference > MultiStream Mode = Auto
  • Conference > DefaultCall Rate = rate as per CE release note guidance

Testing

To confirm multistream is working, connect to a new conference once the beforementioned configuration is completed/verified with at least two endpoints (the second endpoint needn’t be multistream enabled). From the TPS conference participants list the endpoint type will transition from Standard to Multistream.
